"Outside In":

it has been very rare in my experience as a sculptor that I have worked to a brief such as this. I have in the main interacted with materials, instincts, and feelings, searching often in quite a circuitous way for the implications and "concept" contained within the evolving work. So for me this has been quite a new and indeed refreshing change of emphasis. The approach I have chosen is to utilise "THE ART GALLERY" itself as an integral player and mediator in the physical appreciation and realisation of the work. In many cases, the Art Gallery is used as a space to be displaced by the artworks: a neutral space. However, the two pieces I intend to include in the exhibition attempt to define, and are defined by, the gallery, and the proximity to it..
