Confinement, The Sinner,Grandchild with Kiss and Not So White
installation, paper, found materials
Through making I accumulate what society oversees or discards, and by a process of defabrication, revive the object by giving it a new life in art. The materials are almost always found; retrieved or salvaged from a state of vulnerability. I sense the worth of these materials. I see and feel their history and story, their place in the world and the place they have lost. Depending on the circumstances that resulted in our coming together I adjust my process to the material.
I create my work to make a connection between people as a mass and their environment with the individual and the space they occupy. When I create work through a group this is also made to put their place into context with the place and environment in which the work now exists. Confinement, The Sinner, Grandchild with Kiss and Not So White

This work is from and ongoing body of work which I began in 2004. It deals with feelings of guilt, regret, and desire. This installation shows how the initial idea of confinement has evolved and giving birth to new works.
