2. Artists statement: My early work was clearly abstract figurative with a strong Cubist influence. As my work progressed more attention was given to the edges formed by the intersecting planes and the work became less figurative, becoming concerned totally with multiple planes and edges. At about this time I became interested in the influence of pebbles and flints on the evolution of early mankind where the making and using of flint tools determined the survival of ancient ancestors. My present work centers around the forms of flints and pebbles which I believe are shapes we recognise in our deep subconscious as being essential to survival.
