13. Peter Hibbard was born in 1945 at Sheffield. He studied sculpture at Loughborough Art School and both woodcarving and life modelling at the City and Guilds of London School of Art. In 1968 he was awarded a Yugoslav Government postgraduate scholarship for research in Fine Art and, in 1972, he carried out a research project in Japan, after being awarded a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship for Sculpture and Carving. He has worked as an assistant for Henry Moore and has been actively involved in the formation and development of several arts centres. Peter has also taught and lectured in a wide variety of educational establishments. He is a visiting lecturer in sculpture at Newcastfe University and he is responsible for the annual programme of residential sculpture courses which take place in Middleham at the Old School Arts Workshop. Sculpture and drawings by Peter Hibbard have been exhibited widely and he has had six one man shows, including two in London. Much of Peter Hibbard's recent sculpture has been carved in stone, with other work produced in wood, bronze, plaster, concrete and glass fibre. His work is represented in private collections throughout Britain, Europe and America.
