The idea for 'Chapters' was conceived after hearing the story of St. Wilfrid's needle. It is said that long ago noblemen used to bring their unwed daughters to the Cathedral crypt to partake in a ritual to test the daughter's virginity .The girls had to mount the small steps In front of the open niche and try to climb through. If they were successful their virginity was confirmed and they could be married off respectfully, we can only guess the the fate of those who could not fit through. This tale made me think about the untold stories and secret lives of these women, and so 'Chapters' became a piece of work about the stages of life and the revealing of a truth.
