He has contributed to and been Consultant Editor for several art publications including 'Complete Guide to Sculpture Modelling and Ceramic Techniques'., and he has exhibited widely throughout the North of England and America. From 1998-2000 he created a series of sculptures called 'Flat Lands' which are based on the American Mid-West. He is currently Treasurer of the Yorkshire Sculptors Group. The sculpture Barry has created for Ripon Cathedral is a combination of Architectural and Landscape imagery .As a child he was made aware of how the height of Cathedral interiors was intended to create a sense of awe and the columns a feeling of forest, creating the same tranquillity and wonder. The scale of the sculpture is intended to place the viewer between the sky and earth, a participant but not a part of a re-created world.
