Ants on Moon (April) In1969, the first astronauts to stand on the moon, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, planted a flag and photographed their own foor prints. In April 1972, the Apollo 16 Moon Mission astronauts found evidence that other forms of life may have got there first. This photograph released by NASA and published here for the first time shows what appears to be an underground ant city.

Moon Worms (December) Later the same year, Apollo17 Moon Mission astronauts found more evidence of primitive life forms. An alarmed NASA, fearing that the astronauts may have contaminated the moon, decided to close down the Apollo programme. They have never returned to the moon.

Moon Rocket (November) A commemorative Saturn V firework celebrates November 5th and the Apollo Moon Missions. Light blue touch paper and retire to a safe distance.
