I enjoy making both two and three dimensional work using a variety of materials and starting points. Life drawing is and always has been a part of this both as a student and later a lecturer. The opportunity has often been there and, in more recent years it has been a regular weekly enjoyment. The landscape is obviously always there and always exciting, disturbing and a productive element. Non objective work needs no other stimulus than the materials to hand. Consequently drawings, paintings, collage, assemblages and clay pieces flourish. Functional ceramics - the plate, bowl, receptacle or tile provide unlimited variety of form, texture and scale. My own skills and available resources do have their limitations. This show, with its chosen theme introduces another strand to the equation. Many a time a change of title gives a new view point to existing work but on this occasion the Moon demands some extra consideration. At this moment I am hoping that my efforts and restrictions such as firing times, will never the less produce new pieces of work for the show.
