Statement I have long been interested in and drawn to the Christian themes: The Crucifixion, The Last Supper, and The Pieta for example. This notwithstanding the fact that I am not a practising Christian. However, I am, and feel fortunate to have been, a practising sculptor and painter, and find the themes mentioned above to be challenging technically, formally, and emotionally. In this last aspect of ‘emotion’ and the ‘inner life’ and the questioning implicit within these words, I feel the iconic moments mentioned above address and embrace Man’s cruelty, compassion and generosity, and in the Last Supper, particularly, there exists the sense of community, among a diversity of characters.
