Statement My four works are inspired by the Cathedral’s history and purpose. 'The Voyage of St. Cuthbert' interprets Bede's account of the journey from Lindesfarne Abbey to the tower on the Farne Islands. 'Transportation of the Word' illustrates the miraculous survival of manuscripts despite storm, war and neglect. Today we drown in information. In the 6th. century information was drowning. 'Crosstree' symbolises the dissemination of knowledge rising from the earth to spread over it and rising heavenwards. 'Pilgrim Carpet' takes the idea of the Cathedral as a focus for pilgrimage together with the patterns from the carpet pages of the Gospel and banners.
