Title: Oil Sump.
Material: Glassfibre, Cement, Hydraulics
Using as a starting point the image of a river god I found in the Bowes Museum collection, I incorporated it into a sculpture intended to invoke an awareness of issues of modern day pollution of the environment. Mechanics and automata play an important part in my work due to my background in engineering and my years spent sailing on oil tankers. According to myth, the more times a river god appears to humans the more enlightened they become.
