Perpetual Motion is actually a mobile piece, and can be activated, like the Museum's Silver Swan. There are other automata in the Museum, for example in the toy collection showcases, that provide links with this piece, in that they perform a simple action.

Trinity evolved in my mind from a strong impression I had when glimpsing the alabaster 'Baptism of Christ' in room 19 of The Bowes Museum, that I was seeing three strands of figures interweaving with each other. the totem-like pole that I have made reduces the three strands into a plait, making up a single, rather ominous, shaman-like figure.
