Having visited the Bowes collection I was surprised at the range of objects and artefacts that had been collected and also the way in which the collection had been amassed. I became interested in the process of building a collection and housing it rather than in any particular work. However I did want to make a work in response to the 'Swan' and the work titled 'Home of my own' is the result, eluding to the rich decoration of the swan in it's show case and the building of a 'Chateau to house the collection.
